I recently had this bad bad bad experience. I accidentally spilled a whole cup of hot, steaming coffee on my laptop. I’ve always been the cautious type, taking very good care of my electronics and everything else in general. When I read about other users spilling drinks on laptop, I wonder – how can people be so careless? Now I know. Sometimes, shit happens !!!

An interesting read, thanks.

I liked your point about making sure to prepare a computer for repair. Many people don't realise that a lot of work goes into just backing up and preparing a machine, before the real problem can even be addressed.

Doing this at home or the office before the computer is looked at by an expert can save a lot of time.

I wish home PCs were made in 32bit versions only. I'm a self-employed PC repair engineer and 64bit machines make my life harder. Some programmes simply wont run on 64bit machines, plus its often harder to find 64 bit drivers for specific hardware, particularly older printers etc.

Keep it simple. Keep it 32bit - unless you really need 64bit
