Very good idea for the “Do it yourself'ers” out there. Its also a good idea to express caution to breaking any of the pieces while taking the laptop apart. Its not something to be afraid of, but if you snap the pieces trying to figure out the problem, you could find yourself in a deeper whole, so be cautious when taking laptops apart, and find a place for all the screws!
Lucky for me I had never had to repair a bad screen. But I fixed a mad motherboard.

I haven't run into this one before. Normally I would post allot more information but I really didnt know too much about this before. I liked the troubleshooting and how you go about figuring out what are the problems and where they came from. Very informative!

If it flickered and got worse until it stopped working that is almost assuredly the cable that comes from the motherboard to the screen. It is usually concealed one of the two hinges and eventually it just tears from opening and closing. It is a number of very thin copper leads in a plastic housing flayed out flat, almost like a piece of tape. If that is bad you need a pro to fix it.
