Repair or replace my old PC? That is the question
Repair or replace? That is the question
All of us have at one point been in the situation of making a decision whether to repair or replace our existing computer. There are no strict rules on how to make that decision but you definitely have to take under consideration the age of your computer as well as compare the cost of repair to the cost of replacement.
If your computer is 5 years old or more, you should definitely consider the cost of replacement. If for example a new computer will cost you $600.00 and the repair is going to be $300.00, then you have to make the decision based on your available budget. If the repair is over half the cost, and you can actually afford it, then it would be best if you went ahead and got a new computer. However, if your computer is “younger” than 5 years old you should probably invest in repair.
Additional dynamics to take under consideration are the specifications of your computer, such as the processor speed, the memory, etc. Was it state of the art when you bought it or just a cheap solution at the moment of purchase? Has its performance been consistent or had problems from the get go? This is where you should consider getting an expert’s opinion to help you make the choice.
