Is 'Internet Privacy' A Myth?

This is quite a contradictory question, almost a Catch-22. After all, we place all our personal information on the internet and then want to know whether it is safe. Most of us lead two lives, the reality and the virtual, and we tend to keep them as two distinct identities. But there are sites that require authentic data to process the official requirements, or you may as well be working in the paper, stapler and snail mail era.
So even if we wanted to avoid, we are compelled to place something authentic about ourselves in some official site, and not necessarily the various Social Sites. Now, if you have taken the trouble of demarcating Dr. Jekyll from Mr. Hyde even in the confines of the virtual world, where and how do they converge to take on a singular identity? Good question, but to understand it real deep, you need to be a techie or a geek. From a lay-mans point of view, which would be ours too, let us understand this in the simplified language of the complicated cyber world.
Let us know that the moment we create an email identity, and we log into the internet thorough our safe password within the confines of our home on the very personal computer, we are still not alone. No, we are not talking of the Twilight Zone; we are talking of something worse called Microsoft, Google and Yahoo. Between these three CCS or Cloud Computing Service providers, nothing much is really ‘hidden’, so the internet privacy does become a myth.
Presuming you have a yahoo email account, a gmail, or even a hotmail account. Know that any of these is controlled by one of the CCS, and somewhere down the line, there is an overlap that allows the exchange and filtration of data. For example, you can create any false identity on a social site, but Google knows your real name, when and for what you use the search engine, your mails and chats and from whom including their email id, access to friends and communities on Orkut, pictures stored in Picasa album, who you have been tracing via Geolocation.
Google knows every Blog, your birthday, your appointments through Alerts, your music preference through YouTube. These are just examples of some of the Google features in regular use, and there are many more. Similarly, Microsoft has features like Windows Mail, Messenger, Live Spaces, Live Searches, Windows Zune, Live Skydrive, Live Maps, Soapbox, and the list goes on. It’s too technical, but somewhere down the line, there is an info-share or just a trespass that does occur, and it becomes easy to segregate the chaff from the rice, surfacing the ‘hidden’ you.
But let us be realistic and ask ourselves, ‘why do we need to hide from ourselves?’ If we just be our transparent selves, we won’t need to worry much about our identity. Yes, keeping important and very personal data is another thing, but then no one advises you to place that on the internet. The privacy on the internet is a myth, but that myth is safe as long as you are within the limits of the law.

After wandering for years and researching the field, I found out Software testing is the next boom in the market and that ISTQB certifications for testers have already enrolled 1 million testers all over the world. PC software can be expensive, which is why it’s important to find the best deals possible. Being that we can’t exactly operate a computer without software or do the things that we enjoy with computers, it’s a must that we have software. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing a computer game, keeping track of business expenses, or protecting your computer from viruses. Some of these programs are really expensive.
But the good news is that you don’t have to sell a kidney or a limb in order to purchase the PC software you need. There are places online and even offline that will allow you to purchase PC software at a great price.
Where can you buy?
First of all, you really need to look on the Internet. Here are some of the places you can look to find the software that you need:
- Online discount retailers – These are retailers that buy programs in bulk so that they can sell them much cheaper. A company is always able to sell cheaper if they can buy more.
- Auction websites – There are auction websites that allow you to buy software programs both new and used. Used programs are going to cost a lot less than new ones. This is something you might want to think about because you never know when you might get unusable software. What’s great though is you’re still able to find cheap new programs on these sites.
– Software stores – This one is a given, but there are software stores that will sell their PC software cheap.
You can do a simple Internet search in a search engine and find places that sell cheap PC software. Just make sure you look up their reputations so that you know you’re doing business with a reputable company. Anyone can create a website and sell software so be very careful.
In the offline environment, there are plenty of places you can buy. You can go to your local department store but you may find that the prices are still rather high. So look everywhere. You might be surprised at what places you may be able to find cheap PC software. Why pay $300 for a program when you can get it for half of that or for a quarter of the cost? There is no need for that. You can buy your own licensed copy, which is another reason why you need to be leery of used programs. Used games are okay, but with anything requiring a license, make sure you get a new program and make sure you explore the deals before making your final move.

The best part of owning a computer is the wealth of information and software available to run on it. However, that doesn’t mean that all software is good or all information is helpful. I have put together this guide for you to make life easier on your PC. This doesn’t mean that your computer will run perfectly but it will probably run a lot better than if it didn’t have these choices software on it.
1. Firefox – this is a fantastic browser. Seriously, if you’re not using Firefox, you don’t know what you’re missing. It absolutely beats the pants off Internet Explorer and other browsers. Did I mention it’s free? What else do you need? Oh yeah, it’s pretty fast too.
2. Spybot – Spybot software gets rid of adware, spyware, and other junkware. It blocks the installation of spyware that can do harm to your computer before it’s allowed to be installed. It’s not a replacement for anti-virus software though. It’s just a way to make your overall computer more secure. Every little bit helps.
– AVG offers basic anti-virus protection. This is not the best virus protection program out there, but it is very good. For the price, it might be the best. If you’re in a pinch and you think you have a virus, this is the software to use. They can help you out of a jam and get your computer cleaned up.
4. Zone Alarm – if you’re on the Internet, your computer needs a firewall. Newer versions of Windows do come with a firewall, but it is not what some would consider completely adequate. If you don’t have a firewall installed, you should really try the software. Even if you do have a firewall, it might be good enough.
5. Notepad++ – the notepad that comes with your computer does read text files, but that’s about all it does. If you’re a programmer or even someone who just wants to get more out of your notepad text editor, Notepad++ is for you.
– Word documents or PowerPoint presentations are everywhere. Working with Microsoft Office documents no longer means that you have to buy Microsoft Office. OpenOffice.org works with all of the popular Microsoft formats as well as the newly popular Open Document formats. Top 3 New Features in Adobe Dreamweaver CS4

So what has changed from Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 to CS4? Here’s a list of the top three features you should pay attention to.
1. Smart Objects
Photoshop integration, which began in Dreamweaver CS3, has been enhanced in CS4 to offer the use of Adobe’s Smart Objects technology. A Photoshop file can be imported directly into Dreamweaver and will automatically come in as a smart object.
Photoshop images are can be inserted using the same techniques as inserting any other image file: Insert – Image; dragging from the Files panel; dragging from the Assets panel; or using the Insert toolbar. A 
Photoshop-style Optimise window automatically appears and you can choose the settings appropriate for that particular image usually GIF, JPEG or PNG.
The fact that the image is a smart object means that if we resize it in Dreamweaver, it will automatically be re-optimised and a new version of the image will be generated with the new dimensions. (In previous versions, resizing an image would mean that the browser was responsible for resizing which led to poor image quality.
2. CSS Improvements
HTML is a notoriously sparse environment which relies on files created with other technologies to add functionality to web pages. Typical examples of related files are server-side includes, CSS, JavaScript and XML. Dreamweaver now includes a feature called “Related Files” which enables you to edit the content of such files, without having to open them separately, and to instantly see the effect of your changes on the main file.
Whenever you open a file which contains linked files, Dreamweaver displays each of the linked files in the Related Files Bar. To access a related file just click on its name. If you make any changes to a related file, an asterisk appears next to its name in the Related Files Bar to remind you to save your changes. When you do, the impact of the changes are immediately visible in the main file.
3. Related Files
The Property Inspector can be used to change the attributes of any element you select on an HTML page. In previous versions of Dreamweaver, changing the attributes of highlighted text would cause the program to create CSS classes with names like “Style1″, “Style2″, etc. in the head area of the current page. This random creation of styles was often responsible for getting new web developers into bad habits.
In Dreamweaver CS4, the Property Inspector contains buttons which allow you to switch between HTML and CSS options. When working in the CSS options, you can now target a specific CSS rule before choosing an attribute or, if necessary, create a new rule.
