A slow running computer has got to be the most frustrating thing in our era of lightning-speed communications. A slow computer makes it seem like you’re riding a mule on a cross country trip when you should be flying a jet.
I can see how it can make a computer owner angry because you paid for a fast computer, so you think it’s reasonable to expect a fast computer; however, you find yourself sitting at your computer desk waiting and waiting and waiting for something to happen. Moreover, it’s confusing. Most people who have this experience ask, “what did I do wrong?” Actually, they didn’t do anything wrong.
So, what can we do about it? How can we get the hare back into that Pentium IV tortoise? This article will explain how a perfectly good, relatively new computer can lose all its speed and what we can do to get it back
Let’s Talk About Malware
The first thing we have to do to get our slow running computer back up to speed is give it a good spyware scan. Most people I know already have a spyware cleaner installed on their computer. A spyware cleaner would be some kind of spyware/malware/adware cleaning program that you have installed on your computer or came on the computer when it was new.
Some of you will not have a spyware cleaner installed but you will have a virus scanner on your computer. This is okay as spyware cleaners and virus scanners basically perform the same function. The viruses the virus scanners get rid of and the spyware the spyware cleaners get rid of all fall under the category of malware or malicious software. Both virus scanners and spyware cleaners clean malware out of your computer. Usually, neither type of cleaner will miss any kind of parasite.
All this means that the first step in getting your computer’s speed back is making sure you have no viruses or malicious software. How do you do this? Scan your computer with a good virus and/or spyware cleaner. Don’t have one? Well in that case, you better get one quickly.
Sadly, there are times a computer is running so slow it’s not capable of getting on-line so you could download a spyware cleaner. If this is the case with your computer, you will have to take it to a repair shop unless you are capable of cleaning out the malware on your computer from another source.
There Are No Viruses or Spyware, Now What?
So, you’re virus and spyware free, huh? Great! In a case like this when a computer is very slow, there is about a 99% chance a registry corruption is present and it’s making your operating system work really hard to perform operations it should perform easily. So go on-line and get a registry scan. That is once again, if your computer is capable of going on-line.
If it’s operating real slow, get on-line, go to the site of a top shelf registry cleaner program and take them up on their offer to give you a free scan. Every good registry cleaner I know of offers a free scan. By getting one you will be able to see if you need your registry cleaned which can take all the zip out of your computer.
If the free scan shows a lot of registry corruption, the best thing you can do is go ahead and get the company’s license to clean it out. There is a charge for this but it’s quite small. I recommend doing this because if you have registry corruption and then you clean it out, great things are likely to happen. In other words, your computer will be fast again!
Registry cleaners are tools that are necessary for keeping your computer up to speed these days. There are a lot of new things bombarding your registry now that just weren’t thought of a few years ago. Only by keeping the registry clean can you keep your computer’s speed at its normal rate. Even better is the fact that by using today’s enhanced cleaners, which include optimizers, you may find your computer will be faster than ever!
